JDMdesign ("we," "us," or "our") builds iOS, Android, and web applications. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our apps and services (collectively, the "Services"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what is needed to operate and improve the Services. Depending on which app you use, this may include:
Information you provide
- Account details — when an app requires an account, we may collect your name, email address, and a password (stored as a one-way hash).
- Profile and preferences — settings, goals, or content you save inside an app (for example, workout preferences, scorecards, or session entries).
- Support correspondence — messages you send us by email, including any attachments.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data — device model, operating system version, app version, language, and anonymized identifiers used to diagnose crashes and measure feature usage.
- Log data — IP address, request timestamps, and error reports generated when the app communicates with our servers.
- Diagnostics — crash logs and performance metrics provided by Apple and Google's standard developer tools, with your consent through your device settings.
Information from app features
Some apps offer optional features that require additional permissions. We only access this data while you actively use the feature, and only with your permission:
- Camera — for barcode scanning, photo capture, or QR code reading.
- Health & Fitness data — when you connect HealthKit or Google Fit, we read and write only the specific data categories you authorize.
- Bluetooth — for apps that communicate with companion hardware (such as wellness devices).
- Notifications — to deliver reminders, session results, or alerts you have opted into.
- Location — only when needed for a specific in-app feature, and only at the precision required.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time from your device's system settings.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Services;
- Authenticate users and secure accounts;
- Sync data across your devices when you sign in;
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you about your account;
- Diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and improve reliability;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your personal data to train third-party machine-learning models. We do not show third-party advertising inside our owned apps.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your personal data depends on the purpose:
- Performance of a contract — to deliver the Services you have signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Services secure, debug issues, and improve features, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — for optional features such as health data integrations or notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — when we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
4. Sharing & Disclosure
We share personal information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — companies that help us host data, send email, or analyze crashes. They are bound by contract to use your information only for the purposes we direct.
- Legal requirements — when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of any person.
- Business transfers — if JDMdesign is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your direction — when you choose to share content through the app (for example, exporting a workout or sending a screenshot).
5. Third-Party Services
Our apps may integrate with the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
- Apple — App Store, Sign in with Apple, HealthKit, push notifications, crash reporting.
- Google — Google Play, Firebase (analytics and crash reporting where applicable), Google Fit.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — for app servers, databases, and content delivery.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you choose to connect.
6. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it (for example, to comply with tax, accounting, or legal obligations). Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be linked to you may be retained for analytics.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest where applicable, and access controls limiting who on our team can view personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Delete your account and associated personal data;
- Export a copy of your data in a portable format;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@jdmdesign.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30 days). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have the rights listed above and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete the information promptly. Some apps may be designed for educational use by minors under the direction of a school or parent; in those cases, additional protections apply consistent with COPPA and applicable student privacy laws.
10. International Users
JDMdesign is based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, processed in, and stored in the United States or in any other country where we or our service providers maintain facilities. By using the Services, you consent to such transfer. Where required by law (for example, for personal data transferred out of the EEA/UK), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will notify you through the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
